CROSSAN Family History
Recorded in the spellings of MacCrossan, McCrossan, Crossan, Crosby and Crosbie, this is a famous Irish surname, which is particularly prominent in Australia. It originates from the pre 10th century Ancient Gaelic Mac An Crosain, whose meaning was the son of the young Cross. This may be a reference to a location, but is more likely to have described a specific Christian, a secular person who devoted himself to following the faith. Most Irish and Gaelic surnames originate from a nickname for the first chief of the clan, and this surname is probably no different.Select Audience

Linda Ragsdale
If you are from the Crossan family in Wales or America that leads back to either one or you think you might be, it would be interesting to see, please leave a message for me.

My grandmother is Nellie Mae Crossan from america, Kansas City Missouri, I believe. And her ancestry get cut short, is missing information, after my greats I believe. Any information about my ancestry from that side is appreciated. Her husband was, Lawrence Ragsdale, I already know about the Ragsdales, from the famous Godfrey Ragsdale but much to learn about the Welsh Crossan side, from Wales.
